12 Zone Water Leak Detection System – LD12 Alarm Panel

The LD12 Water Leak Detection & Alarm System has been designed to monitor up to twelve independent zones in critical areas for water leaks using linear water detection cable or spot sensors. Positioned between the LD8-2 and the Multizone Water Leak Detector 9 to 32 Zones – Type LD32. The LD12 provides increased zone capacity for larger and more complex buildings, while remaining simpler and more cost-effective to install than distributed systems requiring remote outstations. This makes the 12 zone water leak detection system a reliable choice for facilities seeking effective and comprehnesive leak detection.

Each zone can accommodate any number of spot sensors or up to 50 metres of linear water detection cable, allowing flexible coverage across plant rooms, server rooms, risers, tea points, basements, and multi-floor environments. With its 12 zone water leak detection system architecture, every area can be monitored independently, ensuring precise leak indentification and rapid response.

1. Up to 12 Zone Monitoring

The LD12 can be supplied as a 10 or 12 zone water leak detection system, enabling installers to match the system precisely to the building layout. Each zone is monitored independently, providing clear identification of water leaks or sensor faults on a zone-by-zone basis.

2. Touchscreen Alarm Panel with Clear Zone Indication

A large, back-lit touchscreen graphic display provides a clear overview of system status. In the event of a water leak or sensor fault, the display immediately identifies the affected zone. The onboard audible warning device ensures local operators are alerted promptly.

3. Continuous Cable and Sensor Integrity Monitoring

The LD12 continuously monitors all detection cables and sensors for disconnection or damage, including the interconnecting cable. Any break or disconnection will generate a fault alarm, ensuring system integrity is maintained at all times.

4. Flexible Detection Methods

Each zone can be configured using:

• Linear water detection cable (up to 50 metres per zone)
• Spot water leak sensors
• Braided detection cable for conductive or metallic surfaces

This flexibility allows the 12 zone water leak detection system to be deployed across a wide range of environments and applications.

5. Adjustable Zone Sensitivity

Individual sensitivity adjustment is provided for each zone, allowing the system to be tuned for specific conditions. Sensitivity can be increased for high-risk areas or reduced in areas with humidity or minor splashing.

Alarm Handling and System Operation

When water is detected anywhere along our WDC4 water leak detection cable or by a spot sensor, the LD12 will:

• Activate the onboard audible warning device
• Display the affected zone on the touchscreen
• Operate the common alarm relay

Alarms are latched until acknowledged using the Mute Alarm push button, ensuring transient leaks are not missed.

In the event of a cable or sensor fault, the system generates a dedicated fault alarm, allowing rapid identification and maintenance.

Water Shut-Off Valve Control (Optional)

The LD12V variant includes integrated water shut-off valve control, allowing the water supply to be automatically isolated when a leak is detected. Actuated ball valves are wired directly into the alarm panel, eliminating the need for remote outstations and simplifying installation.

A wide range of valve configurations is available, providing excellent flexibility to suit different applications.

• Up to 24x 240VAC valves across the 12 independent zones
• Optional 9-24VDC valves depending on site requirements
• All Valves can be configured as normally open or normally closed (please specify when ordering)

An internal valve status indication confirms when valves are closed, and a manual shutdown override function allows water services to be temporarily restored while awaiting detection cable dry-out. This ensures continued operation while maintaining protection against further leaks.

Integration with Building Management Systems (BMS)

The LD12 includes volt-free relay outputs as standard for common water leak alarm and fault alarms. This allows seamless integration with your BMS, PLC, or other monitoring systems.

Alternatively you can choose to have individual zone monitoring by having a ModBus TCP unit fitted. This simplifies wiring and allows you to connect the 12 zone water leak detection system to connect to your BMS via an Ethernet cable.
