How the Distance to Leak Sensor Operates

The Distance to Leak Sensor works by continuously monitoring a specially designed detection cable for the presence of water or faults such as damage or contamination. When water comes into contact with the cable, the sensor measures the distance from the control unit to the leak location and displays it in metres on its alpha-numeric screen—for example, “Leak at 39Mts.” This enables quick identification and response, even when the cable is installed out of sight.

If the cable is disconnected, damaged, or contaminated during startup, the system will automatically detect the issue and display fault messages like “Sensor Cable Fault” or “Cable Length Error.” Once the issue is resolved or the leak is removed, the sensor resets itself automatically, ensuring minimal downtime and ongoing protection.

Designed for maximum installation flexibility, the Distance to Leak Sensor features dual RJ45 connectors and low-voltage operation, making it easy to position detection exactly where it’s needed—even when the control unit and sensor are located far apart.

Unlike traditional alarms with fixed, short tethered sensors, this system supports customizable cable lengths and standard RJ45 connectivity, allowing detection cables to be installed in tight, remote, or hard-to-access areas. It can monitor runs from as short as 20 metres up to 100 metres per zone, and for larger coverage requirements, up to 10 sensors can be linked in a daisy-chain configuration.

This scalable setup is ideal for large or complex environments, such as plant rooms with multiple chilled and hot water pipes suspended from ceilings, ensuring comprehensive protection from water leaks across wide areas.
