Water Leak Detection Module – Type WLDM

Prevent costly water damage with our Water Leak Detection Module (WLDM), a highly reliable DIN-rail mounted water leak sensor designed specifically for HVAC and Air Conditioning (AC) units in server rooms and plant rooms. This cutting-edge module allows for precise water leak detection at localised points or across larger areas. Choose between our Water Leak Detection Cable (WDC4) or spot probes to esnure early detection and protection from potential leaks.

Ideal Applications

  • Server rooms and data centers
  • HVAC and AC units in plant rooms
  • Commercial buildings and office spaces
  • Industrial facilities requiring water leak monitoring
  • Construction sites vulnerable to water escape incidents

Key Features of the Water Leak Detection Module

Compact & Space-Saving Design – Measuring just 82mm (H) x 46mm (W) x 39mm (D), the WLDM can be installed in tight spaces. The DIN-rail mounting bracket allows multiple modules to be positioned next to each other, optimising space efficiency.

Volt Free Contact – Instead of an audible alarm, the volt-free (dry) contact output can be configured as either normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) and seamlessly integrates with your Alarm System, BMS, or PLC.

Easy-to-Install with Standard Power Supply – Requires 12-24VDC or AC.

Quick Leak Detection with Visual Status Indication – A green LED confirms power status, while a flashing red LED immediately alerts to the presence of water. Water leak detection is less than 6 seconds after exposure, providing rapid protection.

Sensor Configuration options with the WLDM

Choose between using 1x water leak detection cable or up to 3x spot probes.

You can customise the length of the detection cable required on purchase. Small areas can be monitored with 1-5m long detection cable. Alternatively, you can choose up to 30m long detection cable for larger areas (for example underneath server racks in a data centre). Secure the detection rope or tape using floor adhesive clips or tie wraps. Watch this video to show how to use our UK-manufacture water leak detection cable (WDC4).

Alternatively you can select our water leak detection Spot probes. These can be placed in critical areas to monitor for leaks. Ideal in drip trays underneath Air Conditioning Units (AC) or your HVAC unit.

Advanced technology used in Water Leak Detection Module

Advanced Bi-Directional AC Current Technology – Unlike traditional DC systems, our Water Leak Detection Module operates with bi-directional AC current, preventing oxidation and erosion over time for long-term reliability.

Adjustable Sensitivity for Different Environments – This feature allows you to control the sensitivity of the water leak detection cable. In damp or humid environments, adjusting the sensitivity can help prevent false alarms while ensuring accurate detection. You can turn the potentiometer with a small flat-head screwdriver. Turn anti-clockwise to decrease sensitivity andn clockwise to increase sensitivity.

The Rising Cost of Water Damage

  • In 2023, property insurers in the UK paid out £4.86 billion to homeowners and businesses for unexpected damage, with £2.55 billion attributed to home insurance claims, driven largely by weather-related damage. (Source: Association of British Insurers)
  • The average claim cost increased to £6,235, an 11% rise from 2022, highlighting the growing financial impact of leaks and floods.
  • Escape of water was responsible for 42% of all building insurance claims in 2023-2024, making it the leading cause of insurable loss during construction projects. (Source: WINT)
  • Preventative solutions like the WLDM can help mitigate damage risks and reduce costly insurance claims by detecting leaks before they escalate into major incidents.
